Our Engagement Story:               How it Happened

Jason told me that he had a presentation to give on Saturday, September 9th. I had originally planned on going to a birthday party for a friend - but luckily I didn't!!!

He told me to be ready by 5pm and that they were sending a car for us...we started driving and wound up in Brooklyn! The driver dropped us off 3 blocks from the water and we proceeded to walk (I was in heels and of course had to say - "Why are we WALKING this far??")

We got to the Brooklyn Promenade overlooking Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty, it was beautiful! Clearly we were both nervous...we found the first empty/partially private bench and I sat down and Jason immediately got down on one knee and said (very quickly) "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" With this, he was holding the ring box in his hand up-side-down - the ring was dangling and I said - "The Ring is upside down but- YES I WILL MARRY YOU!" We hugged and kissed - I cried and the girl on the bench next to us looked up over her newspaper and said - "congratulations!" I think Jason paid her to be there because she took pictures of us - it was perfect. Jason than handed me an envelope which I opened and read that we will be celebrating our engagement by renting a house on the beach in the Hamptons for the week!

We then proceeded to walk down the promenade and get back into the car - the driver dropped us off at The River Cafe (at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge) where my parents, Jason's parents and my Grandma were all situated at a gorgeous table overlooking the water.

From this point forward both the champagne and tears were flowing!

We took PLENTY of pictures from the evening to share the experience!
